  • More often an orientation (learning) technique
  • Formally assigning qualified established employees (physicians, nurses, etc.) to assist in the transition of new staff (students) into a setting (hospital, office) over time (rotation/clerkship)
  • Brief duration and lack of emotional content

  • Makes them enjoy clinical practice more
  • Sharing their knowledge with student
  • Increased respect from colleagues and patients
  • Learn by teaching: keep up on medical literature and clinical skills
What is MENTOR NEOUCOM?

MENTOR NEOUCOM is our vehicle to communicate with faculty on development issues.
The goals of this program are to:

  • Provide up-to-date information that effect NEOUCOM faculty and preceptors.
  • Provide resouces on teaching, evaluating students, and other topics relevant to training NEOUCOM students.
  • Provide information on upcoming events and Continuing Medical Education opportunities sponsored by the variety of offices and programs within NEOUCOM
  • Offer online faculty development modules to enhance your teaching and leadership skills.
